Miranza desembarca en Portugal, se afianza en Andalucía y consolida su presencia en la Península Ibérica

Our Group continues its international expansion with the addition of Clínica das Antas, a leading eye care center in Porto for over two decades. We are also growing in Andalusia, with the addition of our third clinic in Seville and the eighth in the region.

Miranza takes a decisive step in its international expansion with its entry into Portugal through the integration of the prestigious Clínica Oftalmológica das Antas, located in the city of Porto. With this acquisition, the leading ophthalmology group in Spain, with nearly 40 centers across the country, strengthens its presence in the Iberian Peninsula.

The launch of operations in Portugal is the result of a meticulous strategy to enter new markets, developed over recent years and initiated in 2022 with the establishment of Miranza in Andorra, marking its first international venture.

In line with this strategy, the choice of Clínica das Antas—founded and led by Professor Manuel Monteiro Pereira, one of the most renowned ophthalmologists in Portugal—reflects the goal of incorporating centers with a strong medical track record and a deep commitment to patient care.

A leading eye care center in Portugal

With over 20 years of experience, the center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, establishing itself as a benchmark in eye health. Moreover, Miranza’s new clinic in Portugal has been a pioneer in introducing techniques such as the LASIK procedure, used for refractive eye surgery.

With over 40 years of experience, the medical director of Miranza’s new clinic in Portugal is a leading figure in ophthalmology in the country. He has been a pioneer in surgical techniques such as phacoemulsification, has developed and patented innovative intraocular lenses, and has performed over 28,000 eye surgeries. He currently combines his clinical work with academic and scientific pursuits.

Addition of a third clinic in Seville

In addition to continuing our growth beyond national borders, we are also expanding within Spain with the incorporation of a third clinic in Seville—Tecnolaser Clinic Vision—which joins our existing centers in Andalusia, bringing the total number of clinics in the region to eight.

With over 20 years of experience, Tecnolaser has become a benchmark in laser surgery and advanced treatments for eye conditions, under the leadership of Dr. Federico Alonso Aliste, renowned for his clinical, research, and teaching career.

In this way, Miranza not only strengthens its leadership in Spain but also takes a decisive step toward integrating excellence in ophthalmology throughout the Iberian Peninsula, in line with its affiliation with Veonet, the European network of ophthalmology clinics.
