His main interests are diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and age-related macular degeneration.
He has been recognised and awarded grants by both public and private institutions for his projects focussing on the development of new tools for the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases.
Education
As a graduate in medicine, he did his doctoral thesis at the University of Navarra.
Specialist in retinal diseases at the IMO clinic (Barcelona) and at the Edward Harkness Eye Institute (Columbia University, New York).

He regularly participates as a speaker in specialised courses on both a national and international level.
Scientific and research activity
He has developed three patents that have led to the production of new surgical instruments with application in the field of eye surgery.
He is a corrector of scientific articles and actively collaborates in national and international publications of impact.
His research projects have been recognised by, among others, the Royal Academy of Medicine and the European Retina Society (Euretina®️).
He is currently the principal investigator in several international multi-centre clinical trials focussing on the development of new drugs and diagnostic tools for the study and treatment of pathological ageing of the retina.
